About Me

Oh, hey there!

Hi! I’m Kandace/Kandy, owner of Kandy Rae Photography! I have been a portrait photographer in the Twin Cities for 13 years!

I started learning photography after my mom’s sudden death. Life is too precious to not document and I’m here to do that for you! If you are a mom and have been present at a photoshoot of mine, you know that it’s important for you to jump in for a few shots- no matter what!

I have been married to my amazing and supportive husband for over 22 years. We have two kiddos, Alivia (16) and Weston (14), two dogs, 4 chickens and a snake.

 
When I’m not doing photography I am cruising around on my E-bike, paddleboarding, antiquing, hanging out with my family or friends, loving on my baby nephew, or spending time with my chickens. 
 

I’d describe my style as classic and casual with a side of goofy. Come watch me act like a fool and become best buds with your kids! You’ll have great pictures to show for it!

Why I do what I do

Pictures freeze a moment in time and as someone who has lost a mom at a young age, I think it’s very important to make family pictures a priority. Unfortunately, we do not have many photos of us as a family growing up and I certainly do not have enough pictures of my mom, as she was always the one taking them.
A year after her death, I received a DSLR camera as a gift for my Golden Birthday. I wanted to make sure I did not miss a single detail, so I started photographing my kids and everyone around me, like I was the paparazzi. I fell in love with creating portraits and felt it was important to offer my services to other families, because life is too damn short and pictures are important.

Directions

  • There is plenty of parking near the studio on the street, in an adjacent parking lot, or in the rear parking ramp. To enter the studio, enter through the door with the Kandy Rae Photography logo, located on Jackson St. The door is tucked in and is between 201 Tavern and 2nd Ave, under the ICEBERG sign. 

    If you need elevator access, please enter through the back alley. Enter through the 201 Tavern patio door, and the elevator is on your immediate left. Take to the 2nd floor, exit left, and go through the door.
