A Little About Me…
Kandace (Kandy) Baertschi has been a professional photographer in Minneapolis, Anoka, and all over Minnesota since 2011. Kandace has been trained by some of the best photographers in the country, and continues to perfect her skills through classes and photography workshops. Kandace is especially great with children, and her amazing ability to cultivate genuine smiles of young and old continues to amaze parents. After countless newborn sessions in homes, studios, and hospitals, Kandace has earned the nickname of “baby whisperer.”
When Kandace is not busy in the studio, she enjoys creating mischief with her two kids, collaborating with her husband, capturing the beauty of Minnesota, and taking her golden doodle for walks around Anoka.
The thing Kandy loves most about being a photographer is meeting all of the wonderful families, and getting to know them on a personal level. The pleasure of creating memories that will last forever is something that she truly cherishes.
Why I do what I do…
As someone who has lost a mom and a close cousin very unexpectedly and tragically I know first hand how important it is to get these precious memories and milestones documented. Growing up we never had family pictures professionally done. The pictures that we do have, my mom was never in any of them since she was the one taking them. I really regret not having more pictures of her and now it’s too late. Don’t waste another minute and quit making excuses about getting your family pictures done, it will be worth it and I guarantee you will never regret it!
The Studio:
The Kandy Rae Photography Studio is located at:
203 Jackson St #202A, Anoka, MN
The large studio space provides lots of options for beautiful, creative portraits. We have different options for solid color backgrounds, and over 60 different custom backdrops to choose from. It is very kid friendly and has a comfortable waiting area.
Directions:
There is an abundance of free parking very close to the studio, including a free ramp behind the building. Enter the front door from Jackson Street to go up to the second floor, or around back if you prefer to use the elevator.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What if my child does not cooperate?
I am a mother of two young ones, so I know first hand how stressful this can be! Don’t worry, I guarantee at least 5 “wall worthy” shots and if I feel that has not been accomplished then I will have you back for a re-shoot at no charge.
What happens if we go over our time?
I’m pretty laid back about session times unless I have another commitment that I need to attend. It is often my fault that we go over on the time, because I simply cannot ignore the creative juices flowing through my mind. If I see a shot that I have to have I will attempt to get it! I usually ask at the beginning of our session if you have any time restraints.
I have no idea what to wear! Can you help?
Sure! I am a fan of layers! Layers is a good way of tying all of the outfits together without it being too matchy-matchy. Wear solid colors or mild prints that compliment you and your family. Avoid shirts with screen-printing or logos. We can discuss this issue more in depth on a person-to-person basis in our pre session consultation. I love when clients send me pictures of outfits so I can be prepared. You can also check out my backdrop choices to give you some ideas.
I’m not really sure where to do our On Location session do you have any suggestions?
I sure do! I have several favorite spots near my house that I love shooting at. I can suggest some other places as well, depending on your vision for your session.
How long does it take before we can view our images in the gallery?
I try my very hardest to not go past the two-week mark. If it’s during a busy season or if it was a mini session then it could take longer. I will always keep you informed if it is past 2 weeks.
I would really like to get my hair and make-up done for my session, do you offer this service?
I can most certainly offer this service at an additional charge. I work with some very talented ladies at Lavish and My Lavish Party who would love to help make you feel more beautiful!
Do you edit imperfections?
I do my best to remove any blemishes, bruises, and anything else that is not permanently a part of you. If you have a tattoo that you would like removed or whiter teeth please let me know at the time of your session.
Our dog is like a child to us, can we incorporate him into our pictures?
If you think your pet is well enough behaved to join in on your family pictures, then absolutely! I have found that it is helpful for you to bring an extra person to help with the dog when s/he is not in the picture.
You say that we only get 15 images in our gallery, is there a way to have more?
I use 15 as a base number. If I have more than 15 images that I just have to share then I will add them to the gallery as well. I am very generous with my image count and often find myself almost doubling that number.
What do we do if someone becomes ill right before our session?
Shoot me an email or call me as soon as you know that you need to cancel your session. We will get you rescheduled.
We were not able to order prints in the two-week time period, can you reopen our gallery?
Sure, but the prints will be cheaper if you purchase the first time around, so do your best to purchase as soon as possible.
Once we order prints, how long does it take for them to arrive?
When you order prints, you are ordering directly from my professional photo lab. They give a 10-day time frame, but I often get my prints within 5 days. There is no guarantee though. If you need an image immediately, please consider purchasing the digital file from the gallery and getting it printed at a lab of your choice.
